Long drives have been a constant in my climbing life. First I lived in Houston, Texas, the closest crag two hours away. Then I moved to Melbourne, Australia, three to four hours from the Arapiles and the Grampians. Most weekends are spent commuting to crags, and during the week I’m often on planes for work. I’ve used that time to listen to a number of climbing podcasts, training beta, the enormocast, jam crack podcast, the list goes on. I was learning so much about foreign climbing culture, both present and past, yet very little about my own country, Australia. I have set out to close that gap with this podcast, and capture the stories of Australian climbers.

The best moments in climbing happen in obvious places, like the sharp end of a memorable lead, but they can also occur in surprising places, like sitting around the campfire, discussing the latest ethics and heated issues in climbing, among friends and kindred souls.
The RunOut is a podcast about rock climbing, with hosts Chris Kalous (host of The Enormocast podcast) and Andrew Bisharat (climbing journalist, Evening Sends, National Geographic) discussing current events and issues shaping the sport of climbing—with everything from mountaineering, bouldering, sport climbing, big-wall and your grandaddy's trad all covered. Like any good run-outs, our goal is to make these episodes mercifully short.

In the TrainingBeta podcast, I talk to rock climbers and climbing trainers about training for rock climbing so that we can get a little better at our favorite sport. Every week or so I publish a new interview where I talk to pro climbers, non-pro climbers, climbing trainers, and other members of the climbing community about their climbing training philosophies, what they’re up to these days, and their thoughts on diet. I hope these talks help you train smart and climb hard
