Kids climbing shoes are specifically designed to provide young climbers with the essential support, comfort, and grip needed for their climbing journey. Built softer and designed for growing feet, they enable natural foot movement while offering the precision required for gripping holds. Our range of kids climbing shoes features adjustable sizes, easy-to-use closures, and durable rubber soles, perfect for both indoor gym sessions and outdoor adventures.

Choosing the Right Kids Climbing Shoes

When selecting climbing shoes for your young adventurer, focus on fit, comfort, and durability. Unlike adult shoes, junior climbing shoes should not be painfully tight because they will grow out of them too quick. Think about how quickly your child is growing or if any growth spurts are expected in the coming months, and choose a size that will give them about 6 months of climbing.

The trickest part is finding a balance between growing room and something that doesn't feel too big and clunky so they feel confident standing on small holds. A snug yet comfortable fit allows for natural foot development while providing the necessary precision. Some shoes have adjustable features that help with growth.

What's the difference between kids' and adult climbing shoes?

Kids' climbing shoes are generally supportive, focused on comfort, and designed with growing feet in mind. Though they look similar to All Round climbing shoes with a flat, neutral profile, the main difference is that kids shoes aren't tensioned like adult shoes and will not fit as snug or tightly around the foot. Kids climbing shoes also feature a simpler closure system to make them easier to take on and off.

How should kids' climbing shoes fit?

They should fit comfortably and snug with some extra room to grow in. A new pair should be fitted with a thick pair of socks, toes laying flat and almost touching the front. It should not be so large that it feels like the shoe is falling off when climbing. As they grow, remove the socks to give the toes some space. Eventually, they will grow to meet the size of the shoe and their toes will curl slightly. It will be time to go a size up when the shoe becomes too tight to the point that it may affect the natural development of healthy feet.

Are these shoes suitable for both indoor and outdoor climbing?

Yes, many of our kids climbing shoes are versatile and suitable for both indoor climbing gyms and outdoor rock climbing.

How do I clean and care for my child's climbing shoes?

Most climbing shoes can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. Air dry them away from direct heat. Check out how to wash climbing shoes.

Proper care and maintenance can keep shoes from becoming stinky for longer. Most kids climbing shoes are too small to fit a shoe deodorising insert, but you can use nautral deodorising sprays. You can find these items in shoe accessories or learn more about caring for your climbing shoes.
