WHERE: Climbing Anchors Alexandria - Shop 8, 40-42 O'Riordan St, Alexandria
Everyone has an opinion on what you should be doing to make yourself a better climber. But is attempting to mimic Ondra's training regime really going to help you in your personal battle for success at the local crag or gym? What are the risks of injury when it comes to training? And with the majority of advice and data written by and for male climbers, what (if anything) should females be doing differently? This seminar will help females climbers begin to understand the strengths and capabilities of their own bodies, and how they can climb harder by targeting their own weaknesses with an individualised and systematic approach to training. The physical, mental and technical components of successful climbing will be explored, with a focus on evidence-based sports science and physiology.
More about Ashlee: Dr Ashlee Hendy is a Lecturer and Researcher in Sports Neuroscience at Deakin University. She has been entwined in the Melbourne climbing community since the early 2000's, training at various indoor facilities around Melbourne and making occasional cameos in local competitions. Her heart and soul reside in the Wimmera, where she spends her weekends working projects on glorious Grampians sandstone, and sharing her passion for climbing and the outdoors with friends.
The talk is expeced to run for one hour with time for questions and mingling at the end.
