I have always found my Petzel Croll to be a reliable piece of kit, which is trustworthy and easy to use. It is a great chest ascender when space is limited, like ascending a cave ladder. The design is proven and effective, which is obvious as these have been on the market for almost eternity with very little design change.
Best hint for use is to make sure it's secured to a chest web/harness, and to keep slight pressure on the rope below the device.
I often use mine a rope break also in a pullying/haulling setup.
After four years of regular use mine is still going strong.
Only down side I can think of, is that the teeth can be a bit rough on the rope.

It takes a lot of practice and exahusting technique. for $15 more you can just get s second ascender and have more virsitility!
