We just received our shipment of the awesome moon warrior and Saturn bouldering pads. The warrior is a great size but the Saturn is Huge. grab one of these if you need some foam to save your ankles on a high ball!!

Well its that time of year again, Easter, the date that climbing conditions start to improve and the friction starts to increase. Hopefully you all have some grand plans for the Easter weekend / holidays. Its been a busy time at Climbing Anchors. We have jointly purchased the climbing hold manufacturer Uncarved Block which is back online at www.uncarvedblock.com.au and have been working on getting it back to its former self.
We have also just received a new shipment of bolts and other hardware from Fixe in Spain and are working on a new Tendon rope order (if there is a specific rope you would like us to get like a 173m 10mm Dynamic now is the time to ask) to be finalise din the next few days.

Fixe Gear Has Landed

Our Fixe gear has finally arrived. We have restocked on the popular hangers and climbing bolts as well as getting a few new fixe items like the limestone climbing holds, hooks, nut tools etc. Most items are online but a few more will trickle in over the next day or so.
Choose the Right Bolts

A lot has been written about the tragic accident of our friend Nick Kaz, he will NEVER be forgotten.
I don’t wish to go over the incident but want to encourage people to research the correct bolts to place before firing up the drill (or hammer for that matter). There is plenty of information available and a wealth of climbers who have a good understanding of what works well and what doesn’t.
I would encourage anyone considering bolting in a new area to seek the input from locals before hitting the rock face. In addition here are some resources you should read AT THE VERY LEAST before bolting for the first time:
Safer Cliffs Australia Bolt Guide – a good guide to what bolts are suitable in different locations
Guide to bolting in Soft rock by Mike Law – has a good deal of info about bolting methods and draws from a variety of Sources
Bolt Products Testing information – has huge amounts of test data on different bolt designs and strengths
American Safe Climbing Info – has a lot of info about different styles of bolts
My Bolt Strength Thesis – pretty dry reading but has some good information about the different contributing factors to bolts strength in literature review
NONE of these resources will give you the full picture on bolting. Every bolt placed is in a unique piece of rock and location and has factors which will effect its location, type of bolt and installation method. There is NO substitute for experience so please get as much information as you can before bolting.
You have probably seen it already but below is a video created by simon carter that is a tragic reminder of what happens when the wrong sort of bolt is used. Take care out there.

So whats the new gear like? awesome, to put it simply. The new T’s are very slick and the women’s tops are great. The range of chalk buckets and bags are amazing quality and the bouldering mats…well they are mega! the warrior is big. lots of foam to catch you on that one. We also got heaps of cypher pants (green, black and Khaki) for some stylish comfort and a number of the ever popular moon fingerboards (these will go quick).

DVD's Now Affordable!

Well maybe the head line is a bit dramatic but we are excited. We are now able to offer climbing DVD’s at prices which are very similar to those paid overseas. We are selling all our DVD’s for $34 which compares well to the US price of US$29.95. How can we do this? Climbing Anchors on Facebook

Climbing Anchors now have a page on Facebook. There is not a huge amount of detail on it yet but we plan to update it with info and more pics. You can also choose to become a ‘fan’ of ours which will mean you will recieve any facebook emails we send (they will be rare) and any Facebook specific promotions and discounts we might offer. The page also has reviews and a Discussion board so feel free to contribute or give us some suggestions. you will find the page here:
